From October 20 to 26, the International Open Access Week is celebrated, an initiative that promotes the free and universal dissemination of scientific knowledge. As every year, the Publications Service of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) reaffirms its commitment to open science, the transfer of knowledge to society, and the promotion of the use of Catalan as a language of science.

For over a decade, the Publications Service has demonstrated this commitment by actively participating in various collective spaces defending open science, such as the Public Knowledge Project —where we maintain the translations of its tools and participate in its technical committee—, the European Diamond Capacity Hub, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), the Union of Spanish University Presses (UNE), as well as in European and international projects such as DIAMAS, CRAFT-OA or ALMASI, among others.

Recently, the Service has participated in the round table on «Technological infrastructures and funding of the diamond route» during the 3rd Meeting of Professionals in Scientific and Academic Publishing, held on September 18 and 19, 2025, as well as in the panel discussion «Expert Panel "Diamond Dreams & Data Streams: Shaping Sustainable Open Access» at the closing of the European project CRAFT-OA, from October 6 to 8, 2025.

This commitment is also reflected in the resumption of the informal meetings of Catalan scientific diamond-model journals, which offer open access content without charges for readers or publication costs for authors, as these are covered by institutions. The meeting, promoted by the Service and hosted by the CRAI of the University of Barcelona, took place last April and included the participation of EAPC, IEC, UAB, UB, UJI, UPC, UPV and CSUC. Participants agreed on the need to strengthen collaboration and develop shared strategies to achieve sustainability, quality, and international projection of their journals.

The lines of action presented fully align with the strategic axis of the UAB Publications Service, which actively promotes the free dissemination of knowledge through the digital journals service and the open access monographs platform. These actions align with the UAB Institutional Open Access Policy, which promotes the use of open licenses, authors’ rights retention, and open access training.

Through these actions, the Publications Service highlights its commitment to the UAB Open Science strategy, strengthening the visibility and quality of university research.

La publicació de referència sobre l'obra de Lope de Vega i la literatura del Segle d'Or espanyol que edita el grup de recerca Prolope del Departament de Filologia Espanyola commemora el número 30 amb dos monogràfics i una introducció especial sobre la història de la revista.

El primer monogràfic, titulat “Prácticas editoriales y sociabilidad literaria en torno a Lope de Vega” i coordinat per Ignacio García Aguilar, professor de la Universitat de Còrdova, pretén reflexionar sobre les tensions i els vincles, més o menys clientelars i d'institucionalització literària, que van influir en l'activitat creadora del Fénix de los Ingenios. El segon està coordinat per Elena Di Pinto, professora de la Universitat Complutense de Madrid. Amb el títol de “La alquimia en un mundo inventado: mixturas literarias en tiempos de Lope”, posa de manifest l'habitual i fructífera barreja d'arts a l'època de l'escriptor, que suposava una multitud de variacions, hibridacions i jocs de contrastos. El número 30 es completa amb dos articles més sobre un paper d'actor inèdit i sobre la modernització ortogràfica de textos del Segle d'Or automatitzada gràcies a la intel·ligència artificial.

L'Anuario Lope de Vega va ser fundat l’any 1995 pel que va ser professor de la UAB Alberto Blecua (1941-2020), fou dirigit per ell mateix i Guillermo Serés, i, successivament, pels professors Victoria Pineda, Enrico Di Pastena i Guillermo Gómez Sánchez-Ferrer. Sempre ha estat vinculat al Grup de recerca Prolope i a la UAB, tot i que ha rebut suports externs, com el de l'Editorial Milenio, que el va publicar en paper fins a l’any 2011. Des d'aquella data, la publicació s'ha difós en línia mitjançant la plataforma Revistes Digitals UAB (ReDi) del Servei de Publicacions de la Universitat.

En aquest recorregut de trenta anys i trenta números, l'Anuario Lope de Vega ha aconseguit assolir un prestigi en el seu àmbit de coneixement, tant a nivell nacional com internacional, amb l'obtenció ininterrompuda dels segells de qualitat i les avaluacions positives de les institucions més exigents. Tot això ha estat possible gràcies a la col·laboració d'autors, ressenyistes, avaluadors, correctors i lectors, que, en una tasca conjunta que suma més de 700 textos publicats, ha contribuït de manera decisiva a mantenir els treballs sobre Lope de Vega i el teatre del Segle d'Or en un nivell de recerca excel·lent i convertir-los en un lloc de referència per als estudis de lletres. La seva història demostra que ha sabut adaptar-se a les noves tecnologies i donar cabuda als estudiosos més joves, que han treballat amb els més autoritzats lopistes, cosa que li ha permès mantenir la vigència de la publicació i garantir un futur prometedor.

The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) has published the ninth call for the Evaluation of the Editorial and Scientific Quality of Spanish Academic Journals. On the FECYT website you can consult the Participation Procedure and the Evaluation Guide to apply for the call. The deadline for applications opened on 10 March and will close on 10 April 2025. The provisional list of journals will be published in July 2025.

The main new features of this edition are:

• In order to renew the FECYT Seal, it will be compulsory to take part in the process and pass the evaluation of the editorial quality criteria.
• The validity of the Seal of Quality and the Mention of Good Practice in Gender Equality has been extended from one to two years.
• The visibility and impact indicators have been disaggregated.
• The sources of measurement have been changed, in line with open science practices.
• New editorial quality assessment criteria for recommended compliance have been added.
• The evaluation of the gender perspective has been improved.

In addition, for this edition, a plugin compatible with OJS 3.2x and 3.3 has been developed, designed to automate the downloading of the documentation required in the accreditation process for obtaining and/or renewing the FECYT quality seal. This plugin is already available for the whole community at this link, and it is already available for all UAB journals managed with OJS.

The UAB journals that obtained the Quality Seal in the previous call (eighth) were: Bellaterra Journal of Teaching and Learning Language & Literature, Dante e l'Arte, Rubrica Contemporanea and Tradumàtica. In addition to the recognition of editorial and scientific quality, the journals Bellaterra Journal of Teaching and Learning Language & Literature and Tradumàtica obtained the Mention of Good Practices in Gender Equality.

Currently, the UAB has a total of 26 accredited journals.

On 19 November, the Research, Transfer and Innovation Commission of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) approved the call for grants for the publication of scientific research journals (REV2025-2028), with the aim of encouraging their constant improvement, guaranteeing their economic stability, promoting their dissemination and visibility, and increasing their scientific and academic impact.

This aid programme is based on the signing of programme-contracts between the journals and the Vice-rectorate for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship of the UAB, linked to the fulfilment of objectives, and with the aim of providing stable institutional support that allows the journals to work to progressively improve (or maintain) their quality standards.

This year, scientific research journals published or co-published by the UAB that are recognised in the official UAB Directory of Scientific Journals can apply, which guarantees that the journals registered meet the minimum requirements to be considered UAB publications.

Interested research groups, departments, institutes or centres of the UAB can consult the call for applications and the procedure for the allocation of grants on the website of the Publications Service and the UAB Research Calls Portal. Grants can be applied for from 1 December to 15 January by submitting the specific form at the UAB Electronic Office.

In the framework of the International Open Access Week, the Publications Service of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) will celebrate the UAB Scientific Journals Day 2024 on Tuesday 23 October, from 10 am to 2 pm, in the Journals Room of the Humanities Library of the University. The meeting is open to all those who participate or collaborate in the publication of UAB journals and who have previously registered via the registration form.
