The UAB Publishing Service (Servei de Publicacions de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) has joined PEPA (Plataforma Editorial de Publicaciones en Abierto), an initiative of the Union of Spanish University Presses (UNE) that brings together open-access monographs from 73 university and research center presses in Spain.

Presented on March 17 at FECYT, the platform enhances the visibility, accessibility, and international impact of Spanish academic publications and follows the Diamond Route model, in which neither authors nor readers pay to publish or access content, as the institutions finance the editing and dissemination of knowledge.

PEPA also ensures the digital preservation of works and the interoperability of content, following the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). Users can search for books and chapters by author, field of knowledge, press, or quality seal, and access full bibliographic information, usage licenses, and download or print options.

Joining PEPA strengthens the UAB Publishing Service’s commitment to open science. For over a decade, the Service has published works in open access, participated in international and European projects, and managed persistent identifiers such as DOI and ORCID, contributing to the visibility, quality, and accessibility of UAB research.
