The website specialising in the environment and sustainability, Sostenible.cat, has published an interview with Joan Rieradevall, co-author of the book Economía circular. El camino hacia la sostenibilidad, published by the UAB Publications Service.
In the interview, Rieradevall highlights some of the main ideas in the book, such as:
- Only 7.2% of products worldwide are circular, i.e. reusable or recyclable.
- The example of the Netherlands, which has managed to circularise 30% of its economy.
- The need to move from a linear consumption system to a circular model, with products designed to last and be reincorporated into the production cycle.
- The importance of informative labels so that consumers are aware of the durability of products and how to dispose of them correctly once they have reached the end of their useful life.
- The publication highlights the relevance of the book in the current debate on sustainability and the circular economy, and offers readers a clear view of the challenges and opportunities ahead.
